Filmmaker Bio

Kat Silverosa (she/they) and Grace Hackney (she/her) are two queer Sydney-based filmmakers. Both graduated from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in early 2023, with Joan the Kid serving as a capstone to their studies. Coming from a background in production design, Joan the Kid is Hackney’s writing and directorial debut. Silverosa has previously worked in music videos. Joan the Kid is the pair’s first foray into co-directing.
